FFM Online Newsletter - December, 2007
December began for us in Calhoun, GA at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Pastor Tim McCulley and his sweet congregation! We enjoyed a wonderful day of worship and Christmas music and had a great beginning to our Christmas season! On December 6th and 7th, Rick and Nancy enjoyed a 30th Anniversary gift from the children: a get-away at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN! The decorations there were unbelievable, the food was delicious, and the time alone was a really special treat! As we wandered around the spacious resort, we were overcome with the beauty of it, and it made us realize afresh just how beautiful heaven will be! If man can design such a beautiful place, how much more the Creator of Heaven and Earth?!
The next weekend was spent with the precious folks at Central Baptist Church in Carrollton, GA. Pastor Doug Bearden is such a godly pastor and friend to our family! That Tuesday, we sang at Cornerstone Christian School here in Decatur. What fun it was to minister to the students and faculty there! The next Sunday was spent at our home church, Fairview Baptist. It was a blessing from the Lord to be home during the month of December, and to celebrate our Lord's birth together with family! On the 21st, we sang at a Christmas Singspiration at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Decatur with Pastor Arthur Talley. On December 23rd, we enjoyed being at 16th Avenue Baptist Church with Rick's mom and sister for their Christmas Program. We finished out the program by singing several of our favorite Christmas songs. Christmas Eve was spent preparing for our birthday party for Jesus, and then singing at our church's Christmas Eve Service. We then celebrated the birth of our Lord as a family, opened our traditional Christmas Eve gifts, and watched The Nativity Story. Christmas Day was a perfect day as we gave gifts, ate a delicious turkey dinner with Rick's family, relaxed and worshipped the Lord together. God added an extra blessing by allowing us to web cam with Rebekah and watch her open her gifts!! She recently had the privilege of praying with one of the girls in her youth group to receive Christ!! Praise His name!
December 30th we enjoyed worshipping with the people of Temple Baptist Church in Tanner, AL with Pastor James Spears. Our month will end on the road as we travel to Louisville, KY to visit with Nancy's parents for two days.
It's been wonderful being home for the holidays, but we are refreshed and ready to hit the road again and follow the calling that God has put upon our lives. We praise His name for the ministry that He has given! Please pray for us as we begin a very busy year. We have only a few open dates in 2008. We ask God for His continued guidance and blessing as we minister in His name! May the Lord bless you this new year with His peace and joy!
