FFM Online Newsletter - May 2010

The month of May started out with a bang (excuse the pun) as we were involved with an accident on the way to our first meeting of the month. We were only 2 miles away from Grace Baptist Church in Northport, AL when a truck veered into our lane on a 2 lane highway, clipped our van, totaled our trailer, and hit another car head on. We are so thankful for that "Unseen Hand" that we sing about so often! Our family all escaped without injury, and the contents of our trailer were all safe. It was a slight disruption to our ability to enjoy the homecoming the next day, but God was faithful as we rented a U-haul trailer and unloaded all our belongings into it in the pouring down rain!! We really did enjoy the opportunity to preach and sing at the homecoming services and concert! Pastor Ken Myers and his sweet family are so precious! We had 2 nights at home to unload all our soaked belongings and arrange a way to travel to NC without a trailer! (Also without instruments and most of our clothes and "stuff" we usually think of as essential for travel!) We then headed for Hillsborough, NC where we ministered at Wayside Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Williams. The next night we shared at Smith Chapel Baptist Church at the revival that Bro. Brad was preaching. On Saturday Nancy spoke and sang at the Mother/ Daughter Banquet at Wayside Baptist. What a joy it was to share about "Biblical Patterns of Motherhood" with those sweet sisters in Christ! On Mother's Day we began a Family Revival at Five Forks Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Churchill. The Lord moved throughout the week and many were blessed by the messages on revival. On Thursday night of that week we preached and sang at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hillsborough. The next Sunday we ministered at Riverside Baptist Church in Durham, NC with Pastor Jimmy Jones. Their Missions Jubilee is always a blessing! We then started the long 20 hour drive to Denham Springs, LA, stopping off to pick up Leah and Jonathan in Decatur on the way! We always love being a part of the Missions Revival at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Robertson and his dear family. Our hearts were blessed as we heard the missions-minded preaching of Bro. Joe West and Bro. Bill Allen. After five wonderful days in LA, we headed home for a few nights.

After enjoying the services at our home church that Wednesday night, we slept peacefully as our van was being burglarized right there in our own driveway! God certainly seems to be stripping away all that we hold "dear" (as far as possessions) so that we only have Him. We are trying to be faithful to trust Him and to learn the lessons that He has for our family! Our month ended at First Baptist Church of Town Creek, AL where we preached and sang on Sunday morning. That night we sang at Washington Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals, AL at their Fifth Sunday Sing. It was a busy, challenging month and we were glad to be home to relax and enjoy a picnic on Memorial Day as we thanked God for the men and women who have given their lives that we might be free. Please continue to pray for our family as we seek His face and try to be open to what the Lord is teaching us. He is faithful!
