"He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord." Psalm 113:9
I grew up in a loving, happy home in Louisville, KY, where
I attended Crescent Hill Baptist Church and was saved at the age of 9. I thank
God for the assurance that He has given throughout the years. There has never
been a day when I doubted His love for me! At the ripe old age of 16 I graduated
from high school and headed to Samford University in Birmingham, AL where I soon
met Rick, the love of my life! We were both voice majors, and enjoyed singing
together for the Lord. We were married in July of 1977, and started our
honeymoon, which still is still going on 32 years later! We prayed for the Lord
to bless us with children, but that was not God's plan for us at that time. I
was teaching 6th grade in a Christian School, and loved every minute
of it. After serving several churches, we went on to Mid-America Baptist
Theological Seminary in 1983, seeking how we could best serve the Lord as a
childless couple. That year, we committed our lives to foreign missions.
It was also in 1983 that God gave me a rhema from His Word, "He maketh the
barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the
Lord!" Psalm 113:9. How I clung to that promise! It was only after 7 years of
infertility that God chose to bless us with these precious blessings, bright
arrows to shoot out for His Kingdom! Our dream of foreign missions was put on
the back burner as God blessed us every 18 months with a new little blessing!
Rebekah was born in 1984, David in 1986, Leah in 1987, Daniel was stillborn in
1989, Jonathan came along in 1991, Joanna was miscarried in 1992, Joseph was
born in 1994, Benjamin in 1995, Joshua in 1997, and then our little Susanna was
taken home to heaven through miscarriage in 2004. We thank God for each of these
children, and know that He knows best, and that it is God that opens and closes
the womb. We know that He has allowed the grief of infertility, stillbirth, and
miscarriage to strengthen our faith in an Almighty, Sovereign, Loving God, and
to further expand our ministry. In 1987, we moved to Wilmington, NC where Rick
served as the Associate Pastor / Minister of Music and Education at Long Leaf
Baptist Church. We began home educating in 1989, and thank God for the privilege
of teaching and guiding our children day by day. I love being with them 24 hours
a day! They are my dearest friends, and I thank God for their love for me, and
their dedication to God and His glory. All of our children have been saved by
the grace of God! As the children have grown older and matured in their
relationships with the Lord, we have seen God work in a mighty way in their
hearts. Right now, Rebekah, (23) is serving as a missionary
in Kinmen, Taiwan. David, (21) has been on the mission field in Oaxaca, Mexico
for the past two years. Our
dream of foreign missions IS being accomplished in God's way and in His time! It
is my heart's desire to live my life for His glory. I desire to be a helpmeet
and supporter for my sweet husband, a mother and godly example for my children,
a servant in my church, and an encourager for women, especially young mothers.
God has allowed me to teach a monthly Bible study for young moms, and I hope to
be able to include some of that material in this web site. Please pray for us as
we seek to walk in His ways and to bring others to a saving knowledge of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
